$1 million lottery sold in Elizabeth City last night

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) – A lucky person won big from Monday night’s Powerball drawing after purchasing a $2 lottery ticket.

The North Carolina Education Lottery says last night’s Powerball drawing led to a $1 million prize in Pasquotank County.

Officials say the winner bought the ticket at the Zoom In on South Hughes Boulevard in Elizabeth City, adding that the odds of matching the numbers on all five white balls is 1 in 11.6 million.

The $1 million prize was one of six $1 million prizes won nationally in Monday’s drawing. The North Carolina winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot now surges to $1.09 billion or $527.3 million in cash, according to officials. If won, it would be the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
