Ingredients
- 2 large Granny Smith apples
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Apples Preheat the oven to 350°F. Peel and core the apples, then cut each apple into 8 wedges.
2. Wrap the Apples Separate the crescent dough into triangles. Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll the dough tightly around the apple, completely enclosing it. Arrange the dumplings in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
3. Make the Butter Sauce Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Cook until the ingredients are combined, keeping the mixture slightly grainy rather than fully dissolving the sugar.
4. Add the Mountain Dew Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings. Slowly pour the Mountain Dew around the edges and between the dumplings, being careful not to pour it directly over the tops of the dough.
5. Bake the Dumplings Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the dumplings.
6. Serve Warm
